This course requires a minimum of 40 people to attend.
Who Should Attend?
The course is designed to assist individuals preparing for the ISA certification examination for arborists or tree workers. Others may wish to take this course to update their knowledge in tree care and management while obtaining their ISA CEU(s) or hours. Also, Golf Course Superintendent CEUs will be offered.
ISA Test
The cost of taking the test is NOT included in the course registration. Most tests are given between May and November in Southern California. Normally, there is a May test in San Diego. You may go to one of the many computer test centers and take the test there. Your test results are immediately available.
Certification Requirements
How do I become a Certified Arborist? To apply for certification, you must have three years of practical experience in tree care or a related field, or a bachelor’s degree in arboriculture or a related field, plus one year of practical experience. Also acceptable is an associate’s degree in arboriculture along with two years of practical experience.
Why You Should Become Certified
- In a recent survey of 16,000 arborists, it was reported that arborists in the 20-40 age group had a significantly higher income if they were ISA Certified Arborists.
- ISA Certified Arborists are now required in many municipal, state and federal contracts.
- Many developers,
property managers, landscape architects and golf course superintendents
write specifications requiring ISA Certified Arborists and ISA Tree Workers Certification.
Many commercial tree care companies, municipalities and utilities require ISA Certified Arborist credentials. - Knowledgeable people are beginning to demand ISA Certification for Arborists.
Registration
A check, money order or cash will be accepted. All checks should be made payable to Ted Stamen and must accompany each registration form. No purchase orders will be accepted. Registration is final. No refunds will be given. Each registrant will receive a written confirmation. Ted Stamen reserves the right to cancel this course and return registration fees without penalties. A minimum of 40 students is required for this course. Certificates of Completion will be presented at the end of the course. Ted retired from the University of California, where he was an urban horticulture advisor for almost 20 years. He is now a freelance arboriculture and horticulture consultant and educator. Randy graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a B.A. degree in social ecology, and received his law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law. He is the author of California Arboriculture Law, the first book written to help arborists and others in the green industry understand California law as it pertains to trees. The majority of Randy’s law practice involves the development of litigation prevention measures for green industry businesses, arborists, pest control advisors, homeowners’ associations and property owners. Randy also lectures throughout the United States on the topic of landscape liability.
